Enrolments for 2020 are now being accepted

Welcome to Avondale Primary School! Enrolling your child in primary school may feel a little daunting but the information on this page is designed to provide you with a comprehensive introduction to our enrolment application procedures.

Enrolments at Avondale Primary are led by the Principal Paul Mulroyan, supported by the Assistant Principal, Joe Scarfo and Administration Officer, Ros Blake – the Admissions Team.

Our Admissions Team will:

  • Guide you through the admissions process.
  • Book individual or group school tours
  • Answer questions about our school and its programs
  • Support you through the enrolment process to Avondale Primary

Prep Enrolments
Our school commences the enrolment process for preps in the year prior to enrolment. We meet with all prospective families, undertake school tours, organise an open day (see calendar), organise transition mornings for new preps and an information night for parents.

Due to current zoning restrictions we are only able to accept enrolments from families who reside within our school zone. Please see the link below to determine if you fall within our enrolment zone.

We encourage parents with a younger child who will attend school next year to enrol their child as early as possible.

If you have neighbours whose eldest child will start school next year, please inform them that enrolments are being accepted.

If you have any queries or questions about enrolling at Avondale Primary please send us an email or phone our office on 9318 1755.

A member of the enrolment team will assist you to complete the enrolment forms.

The forms must be completed, signed and returned to our office with the following original documents these will be copied by the school and returned:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Immunisation Certificate
  • Proof of residence e.g. Drivers Licence and copy of council rates or utilities bill. Documents should show the same address and parent’s/carer’s name as recorded on the school enrolment application form.
  • Passport, if born overseas
  • Visa (if applicable)

Both a birth certificate and proof of immunisation must be sighted at the office on enrollment. By law, primary schools are required to request and record information on the immunisation status of students prior to enrolment. Parents or guardians must provide an immunisation status certificate to the school regardless of whether the child is or is not immunised.
From 28 February 2018 only an Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register can be accepted as proof of immunisation status on school entry.

For families arriving from overseas, school entry is determined by the Visa Subclass Number on your child's Passport. Students unable to enrol directly into the school can enrol via the International Students Unit. Please contact them by phone on 03 9637 2990, by email on international@edumail.vic.gov.au or visit their website on www.study.vic.gov.au for further information.

A school tour is an excellent way to get an inside look at your local school. Schools have different cultures, programs and foci so it is important to view a number of schools to find your 'best fit'.
We encourage all prospective parents to come along to one of our school tours. The best time to attend is during school hours as you will see the students and teachers in action.
Tours usually run for 45 minutes which will give you a look into all year level classrooms, a chance to see the excellent facilities and ask questions along the way.
Please contact the school office to book a tour.

An important feature of our enrolment process is the Transition Program for kinder children. In Term 4 each year we organise two transition mornings for children to spend time at school getting to know their future school and teachers.

The transition days for 2020 preps will take place

during November 2019.

We also provide information sessions for parents and make every effort to make you welcome within the school community.

The information night for 2020 preps enrolled at Avondale Primary School

will be during November 2019.

To assist us with our whole school planning for 2020 we encourage parents to confirm enrolments by Friday September 20th 2019.

If you have any queries concerning enrolments, please feel free to contact us.
