Wearing the Avondale Primary School uniform is compulsory. Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students wear compliant items to school each day. Families are encouraged to contact the school who will assist families and students who may be experiencing difficulties complying with this policy where possible through avenues including State Schools Relief and Second-Hand Uniform Shop access.
The advantages of students wearing a uniform include:
• developing a sense of pride and identity with the school
• an economical way of clothing students
• playground safety as non uniform clothing is readily noticeable
• students on excursions are clearly identifiable as belonging to our school
Uniform Items and Non Compliant Items
• Hats are worn outside during mid August to the end of April to protect students from the sun, in line with our SunSmart Policy. Students are also encouraged to put sunscreen on before going outside to play. Sunscreen is available in all classrooms or students may choose to bring this from home.
Please note: The wearing of cosmetics and fake fingernails at school is not permitted. Due to safety and security concerns students are not encouraged to wear jewellery to school. These include stud earrings and sleepers worn in the ears, bracelets and necklaces. Watches that are not internet enabled are permitted, however the school does not take responsibility for these items. Any internet enabled devices must be deactivated during school hours or handed in at the office at the beginning of the day.
For a copy of our Student Dress Code Policy parents can contact the office or view this online. The purpose of this policy is to outline Avondale Primary School’s requirements for student dress and appearance and to provide information about uniform purchase and support, dress code implementation and exemption processes. This dress code has been approved by Avondale Primary School’s School Council in close consultation with our subcommittees and school community to ensure that it respects the rights of individual students whilst reflecting the values and interests of our community. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the school on 9318 1755.
• Students are able to wear tights or leggings that are the same colour as the school uniform.
• Thongs or open footwear are not permitted as they do not provide adequate protection.
