School Council

School councils play a key role in Victorian government schools. Participating as a school council member at Avondale Primary School is a rewarding experience. Our 2019 council consists of 8 parents, 1 community member and 3 school staff members.

 

The school council supports the principal to provide the best possible educational outcomes for all of our students.

School Council News
23rd May 2019

Chair bags

Council approved the purchase of 166 chair bags for junior school grades. The bags slip over the back of a student’s chair and provide an easily accessible pocket for students to store their readers during the day. These will be ordered this week and should arrive within the fortnight.

Grade 3/4 Camp

Council approved the Grade 3/4 camp which will be held at YMCA Lady Northcote camp, Bacchus Marsh from the 13th to 15th November. The cost will be $300 per student which includes transport, food and accommodation in a cabin style lodge.

 

Asphalt Line Painting

 Council approved the expenditure of just over $2,000 to repaint the various courts games and car park. The various games that were covered by the artificial grass will be painted on the asphalt immediately south of Building B.

Hand sanitizer

Every class will be provided with a one litre bottle of Hands First alcohol free sanitizer. These will be available for students to use after visiting the toilet and before eating food. Parents are welcome to provide personal sanitizer for your child’s exclusive use.

Curriculum Resource

Council approved the purchase of growth mindset curriculum resources. These will be used to assist students develop a realistic perspective and maintain motivation in the face of learning challenges. Council also approved the new homework policy that is aligned to the new department template.
